How far in advance do people generally book marquees for weddings?
Some people are lucky enough to get a marquee a few weeks in advance but we would generally recommend you secure your booking at least 6 months before your event. We will take bookings up to two years in advance, obviously the sooner you book the more likely you are to get the marquee you want.
How do you know that the marquee will be big enough?
We are extremely experienced at estimating the size of marquee you will require based on your number of guests. We then draw up your marquee on our CAD (Computer Aided Design) Program so you can see what it will look like and how much space you will have. If you already have a colour scheme in mind then this program will also give you an idea of how it will look.
Who is responsible for the electricity to the marquee?
The Marquee Hirer is responsible for ensuring there is a sufficient supply to the marquee for their requirements. We are happy to advise on whether a generator will be required or, as an alternative, recommend an electrician if necessary.
Can the marquee be put on unlevel ground?
A marquee can be erected almost anywhere, however, the more level and smooth the ground conditions the better. Uneven surfaces may require a subfloor. Exceptionally sloping sites may require scaffolding or a steel-subfloor.
Can the marquee be erected on hard ground I.E concrete?
Yes, ideally if the site is concrete / tarmac we can drill into it and conceal the small hole after. If we are unable to drill we may be able to weight the marquee down, however this will incur an additional cost.
Do we require planning permission?
No, there is no planning permission required for a marquee as long as it is not up for more than 28 days as this is a temporary structure.
How long will the marquee take to put up?
It can take anything from a half day to a couple of days, depending upon how big the marquee is for your event.
How far in advance will the marquee be erected?
We will try to fit in with clients requirements but is usually 2-7 days prior to the event.
Will the marquee be insured for the duration of the hire?
All our prices include insurance for the marquee and any equipment supplied by us. This insurance does not include personal items or any malicious damage.
